Dr. Jason is a full professor in assessment, evaluation and research at College of Education, Florida Gulf Coast University, who obtained a Ph.D. (program evaluation and measurement) at University of Toronto in 2013, two master’s degrees (educational statistics & administration in 2005 and 1997), and a bachelor’s degree (mathematics).
18 years of practical teaching experience: 18 years at the university level (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels) and 4 years at the high school levels in the USA (9 years), Canada (3 years, undergraduate), and China (8 years). During the last 9 years at FGCU (2013-), Dr. Jason has taught 16 courses (10 at the doctoral level, 10 at the master’s level, and 3 at the undergraduate level, six were my initial design) in assessment, measurement, evaluation, and research methods (quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, & survey design) via face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual classes.
Broad academic service along with seven years’ supervisor/administrator experience in high education: Dr. Jason has worked as an assessment officer on the Academic Degrees Committee at graduate school (three years), the associate director of the graduate education office at School of Humanities and Social Sciences (two years), Assistant director of the Institution of Education (two years), Tsinghua University, and academic manager & professor (one year) at one technology college in Canada. Also, Dr. Jason has many years’ academic service: 1). nine years as the member of director board and twice international conferences chairs (CAERDA); 2). Vice President of an international association (S-AERA, 2018-); 3). Three committees’ members of AERA (Division D, Division H, SIG- Research in Evaluation, and SIG-Survey Research. served on the editorial boards of six journals; 4). served as academic advisor to an NGO (four years, FFCF); 5). served on 11 college committees and received two Awards of Excellent Faculty in Academic Service (Senate Program Review Team 2015, Senate Research & Grant Team 2019).
